Anthony Barnhill is a leading Australian conductor, pianist, and composer. 

Anthony is the Musical Director of the Australian premiere of Anastasia. This year, he was also Musical Director of the Australian premiere of Beetlejuice the Musical.

Previously, Anthony served as Musical Director of the 2023/2024 national tour of Chicago. He was Musical Director of The Phantom of the Opera for which he won the 2023 Green Room Award for Musical Direction of a Commercial Musical. Critics hailed that “nothing thrills more than the music, with conductor Anthony Barnhill on board to coax a commanding richness from the orchestra” [The Guardian].

Anthony has a long association with West Side Story. He has conducted the show around the world with highlights including the Dresden and Berlin State Opera, and Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. His involvement with the show continued as Musical Supervisor of the Perth and Brisbane seasons.

Anthony was Musical Supervisor and orchestrator of the premiere production of Midnight: The Cinderella Musical. As Musical Director for Australian International Productions, he led concert performances in twelve cities throughout China. Anthony has performed with a range of artists including Mario, Tina Arena, Anthony Warlow, Lucy Durack, David Hobson, Amy Manford, James Morrison, Lea Salonga, Rhonda Burchmore, Josh Piterman, and Dame Edna Everage.

Anthony studied at Monash University, achieving the university’s highest performance result in each year of study.
