Anthony Barnhill AMusA LMusA BMus BEd (Hons)
Anthony Barnhill is a leading Australian conductor, pianist, and composer.
He is currently Musical Director for the Australian tour of Beetlejuice the Musical, returning to the production after conducting its Australian premiere season in 2025. This year he was also Musical Director for the acclaimed Australian premiere of Anastasia, conducting its Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney seasons.
Anthony served as Musical Director for the 2023-2024 Australian national tour of
Chicago. His other Musical Direction credits include The Phantom of the Opera at the Sydney Opera House and Arts Centre Melbourne, for which he won the 2024 Green Room Award for Music Direction of a Commercial Musical.
Anthony has a long association with West Side Story. He has conducted the show around the world with highlights including the Dresden and Berlin State Opera, and Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. His involvement with the show continued as Musical Supervisor for the Perth and Brisbane seasons.
Anthony was Musical Supervisor and Orchestrator for the premiere production of
Midnight: The Cinderella Musical. Other highlights include Musical Direction for concert performances in twelve cities throughout China for Australian International Productions. Anthony has performed with a wide range of artists, including Mario, Anthony Warlow, Tina Arena, Lucy Durack, David Hobson, James Morrison, Lea Salonga, Amy Manford, Rhonda Burchmore, and Dame Edna Everage.
Anthony studied at Monash University, achieving the university’s highest performance result in each year of study.
